Every since I did the update this week instead of opening up automatically to my home screen, it opens up to my phone screen. It is already at dial screen, why is that and what can I do to change it?

I'd try resetting the app defaults to see if this fixes the issue!
Tap Settings > Tap Applications/Application Manager > Tap the menu key in the upper right corner (3 dots) > Tap Reset App Preferences > Tap Reset
