Why does my phone crash when the battery level is below 80?

S3 mini. Phone crashes when batt level below 80%. Restarts , saying batt level at 2 or 3 % only.

I have tried ALL of the fixes noted on other posts to this forum, including a new battery. No change. I tested the battery voltage and its fine, even when the phone says its not. So, maybe the problem lies in the battery monitoring software, telling the phone that the batt is too low to operate properly and thus shutting the system down. Does anybody have the proper fix for this??

Welcome to Android Central! Does the phone abruptly shut off, or does it give you some kind of warning or error message?

Backup and try factory reset.

Hi B.Diddy,
No, it gives no warning, nor error message. Just turns itself off and immediately re-starts. But batt level is then indicated as 1 or 2 % only and a warning is given to recharge. If I do not plug it in it will turn itself off again. But, as I said previously, when I remove the ( now brand new) battery at this stage and measure the voltage it is showing around 3.8v. ie, charged sufficiently.

Hi mugenlude19. As I wrote above, I have tried all the suggections on the site. Including backup and factory reset. Thanx for taking interest in my problem!

I'm not a battery expert, but this article suggests that testing voltage alone doesn't actually tell you a lot about the battery's capacity: Rapid-test Methods that No Longer Work – Battery University. Can you try a new battery?
