Why does my phone go to Internal Shared Storage instead of Gallery (as it was before)?

There are some apps where I am trying to attach a photo or trying to edit a photo and before it went to Gallery when I'd do this inside the app. For the past month it takes me to Internal Shared Storage which looks like a File Manager. I then need to go looking for me photos inside DCIM. This is much more time consuming than how it used to be (it would allow me to get the photo through the Gallery). I now need to click in to a few folders, the photos are small and they are hard to find). I'm really not sure why this happened. The only thing I can think of is that I put in another SIM in my phone about 6 weeks ago. I'm trying to reverse this.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Try going to Setting>Apps, tap Menu>Reset All App Preferences, and then try attaching a photo in one of those apps again. Does it ask you which app you want to use to complete the action?

Thanks, I've set up an account here now. It's a Xiaomi Note 10 Pro. I'm unable to get to Reset All App Preferences that you've directed to.

Sorry, the phone is Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro but I'd say it's much the same.

I managed to reset app preferences but still not working. Unable to get the Gallery to open instead of File Manager.
