My Galaxy S5 is running 4.4 and I want to upgrade to 5.0 Lollipop. When I check for update it says "current software is up to date" . I have tried to use Samsung kies also . Kies says " this is the latest firmware" I have went as far as doing a factory reset and trying again with no luck.

Thanks for your help

If your service provider hasn't pushed an OTA update to your device, then the device is on the latest software that it has available for installation.

It mostly depends on where you live or actually which region is your phone for. It can be Middle East, North America, South America, Europe, etc. The time that updates are realeased is different in different regions.

There are, currently, 40 different models of the Samsung Galaxy S5 and over 300+ different Lollipop firmware releases for them

If you can provide your model and, "Version", details as per #1.2 and #1.8 of 40 Galaxy S5 models - Dummies Guide it would be helpful.

but how come it doesnt let me do it on my own? by wifi or kies.... they both say up to date

Whichever party is updating your device hasn't pushed an update to your device. So you device doesn't have any newer software on it and it hasn't been pushed to Kies for your device, so there's nothing to install - ergo, up to date.

so if there is nothing to install then would best buy still be able to install lollipop onto my phone or no

If you have the 900A which is AT&T that was rolled out a few weeks ago for the S5.

Best Buy has that software, not sure why it isn't showing up on Kies.
