Why does my phone lock up since upgrading to 5.0.2?

Problems with 5.0.2

Thanks in advance for the help.

My 2012 N7 has run well since the beginning. I updated to 5.0.2 over the air today and while it ran well the first time out of the gate, it now locks up and the screen and keys don't work. I reboot and it cycles to the regular homescreen and once it goes to 'sleep' mode, it locks up or shuts off completely.

I suspect an APP that has a conflict. I've now HARD RESET the device and will see what happens from here.

The easiest way to have checked that would have been safe mode. But it could just be another "sticky Lollipop" - 5 seems to be the buggiest version yet. I haven't heard of it killing any devices yet (the way 4.3 did to some S3s), but it seems spread across the board - every make and model has some bugs that are too much to ignore or work around.

I flashed 5.0.2 and factory reset mine and it is running pretty dang good!

I have had similar problems. It never locked up completely, just take maybe 5 minutes to respond.

Sometimes it works for an hour or so, but then it just grinds to a halt, the System UI crashes and then some other process crashes and then it reboots. It has happened several times already.

I really hope that 5.0.2 is not the last update we see, but I'm beginning to doubt that the 2012 N7 is capable of running Lollipop and I will probably be going back to KitKat soon.

Same here. 5.0 was horribly slow and lagged constantly.

Have had Lollipop 5 on Nexus 7 2012 since it was refeased and generally ok but often hung when waking from standby especially loading Chrome and Outlook.com running too.

Yesterday 5.0.2 update appeared and installed al ok.So far performance seems improved and no hangs.

Fingers crossed.

Got all the updates OTA and after a factory reset things are as good as can be expected for an aging tablet. Some hiccups here and there but generally pretty darned good!

I am starting to think the same thing. I need a tablet so bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 to use on the premise that I may never get my N7 2012 workable again.

It was frightfully slow before Lolly but is unusable after a partition wipe and Lolly.

Do no want to factory reset but may try it after I can save the data on my N7.
