Why does my phone screen go off when making a call?

[AC Question]

phone screen goes off when making a call?? won't come on again

I make a call and screen goes black and won't go on, so can't hangup or key board?

Sounds like the proximity sensor is activating.
have you put a new screen protector on which is covering the sensor?

Also, you're not unwittingly covering the sensor, the way you hold the phone?
