Why does my phone tap the screen on its own?

My phone taps screen on its own.

The issue I am having is that the phone often enters a state where it keeps on pressing the touchscreen's buttons by its self, and I have to press the back button several times to try and go back while it keeps opening new screens or entering text on its own. It happens randomly in the lower right corner of the screen, and it will press anything that is in that area (for example: on home screen in the lower right area is browser icon, and it keeps tapping and opening it). Could accidentally dropping the phone or humidity in the air cause it for instance?

Dropping it could. Humidity? Not unless it's close to 100%. (If humidity damaged phones, places like NYC would be cellphone-free areas. In the summer there are some days where there's even some air in the humidity.) If the phone sits in a car at below freezing temperatures all night, then you bring it into a warm building, the moisture in the warm air condenses in the phone, causing water damage.

It could also be malware.
