Rooted Nexus 10 fails to connect to Google Play

I have recently rooted my Nexus 10 in order to enable BLE but since doing this, I cannot connect to the Android Play Store. It gives me the message "Sorry, there seems to be a problem. Please try again" after I enter my email address. Looking on the web, there are various suggestions and I have followed all I can:
  • rebooted
  • cleared google play cache
  • cleared google play data
  • cleared google play services data/cache
  • factory reset
The one thing I can't do is open a file (I forget which one) and change an IP address. I can't do this since I don't appear to have a file browser or a text editor. I need to download them from the play store: Catch 22!

So how do I do this? Can I download manually without using the play store? It will go onto the web, it just won't connect to play.

There was one point (after lots of faffing about) where it did go on to ask for password after the user name but the play stored showed a blank screen. I cleared the cache and since then it has not got beyond asking for the email address.

Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated. I am trying to get the MiP app for my son to use with his MiP robot and it needs BLE which is disabled on non-rooted Nexus 10s.

Change the date and time to the correct setting.
That should probably do it.

Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately, the date and time are already correct.
