Why does my Samsung Galaxy S6 have camera focus struggle and a buzzing/hissing noise?

Re: Samsung Galaxy S6 Camera Focus Struggle and Buzzing/Hissing noise

I had this problem with the OIS motor, and had the phone replaced. Unfortunately the replacement device also has the same issue

Update, second replacement device seems okay so far, will inform if anything changes

Re: Samsung Galaxy S6 Camera Focus Struggle and Buzzing/Hissing noise

Update: Honestly I can't remember if this is my 4th or 5th S6, but it has been about 2 months and I have not had this problem. Hoping it stays that way.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S6 Camera Focus Struggle and Buzzing/Hissing noise

I had a Galaxy S6 AT&T and it started having this issue after a few months of using it. I ignored it for a while, but after a while it got worse and more annoying. I sent it back in and got a refurbished one from AT&T, literally it's doing the exact same thing after about a month of use. Does anybody know what causes this? Or do I just have really crappy luck? I've never dropped it or caused any type of water damage.

I have a suspicion that it has to do with vibrating while on a table with the screen up (camera down on the table). When I don't have a case and it's in this position, the vibration really seems to shake the phone and make a loud noise, and my hunch is that it messes up something with the camera.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S6 Camera Focus Struggle and Buzzing/Hissing noise

I just got my S6 edge from a guy I traded some items for.
My phone does the exact same thing but only lasts about 2-6 seconds. I'm worried cause I didn't buy from a carrier so I can't get a replacement. Idk what to do I feel like I got ripped off! D:

Guys, It will only get worse. Samsung sent me a refurbished and months later its starting to do it again, also image quality have degraded due to this. Seems like a defect in the camera hardware design. Sounds like someone needs to start a class action suit.

I posted a video on youtube about this. If someone can post my link on here from youtube search for "New Samsung S6 Edge Hardware issue camera (2month phone) "

I had this issue on my s6 edge. It began a couple weeks after i bought it.

Noise and focus issues happened more with low light.

Luckily they have a samsung galaxy studio store in NY and they serviced it on the spot. Dropped it off, they replaced the ois and i picked up in an hour. At first, they said i had to hard reset. I told them it wasn't a software issue and they serviced it.

One note, they warned me that the machine that they used to hold/open the phone could reset it adn i should back it up. I took the chance and luckily, all my data was intact (it would have been a pain to get IT to re-do my work mail.)

Hey bro, how much did it cost you to fix this problem? I'm experiencing the same thing and would like to know the cost of fixing this.

Sorry for replying late but I talked to one of the online support and this it what exactly what he/she said.
Peppi: Under the camera is the camera auto-focus lens in the form of a spring. The camera lens is designed to move up and down to focus/capture long distance. The actual gap is approx. 300 uM (micrometers). This causes a slight rattling in the camera hardware. this is not a defect.

We aren't speaking of the small rattle of the lens slightly moving... Check out one of the videos I posted (back when I had the issue before I got my device replaced).

Re: Samsung Galaxy S6 Camera Focus Struggle and Buzzing/Hissing noise

Did anyone get this fixed via software? My S6 edge plus does the same. It's a very slight buzz not like the one in the video. However when I went to where I got it from the sales man said it's a software issue and that they have fixed it plenty of times via software update or something I don't know. Asked me to come tomorrow morning.

I don't know.

Happens on my Note 5 as well.

if you flip the phone upside down and look directly at the camera.... then tap on the phone, especially if you tap in the area surrounding the camera lens....

you can actually see the little optical element vibrate at a high frequency.

additionally, in my case at least, you can hear the hissing/cracking/popping noise

Re: Samsung Galaxy S6 Camera Focus Struggle and Buzzing/Hissing noise

Hello! I've had my Samsung Galaxy S6 since launch and everything has been fine up until the past few days or so when everytime I open up either the camera or snapchat, the phone makes a weird buzzing sound that only stops once I tap to focus. It makes the noise everytime I re-open the app, the camera also struggles to focus on occasions but is fine most of the time. Just wanted to know if there was anything to fix this or whether it was a hardware issue? Open to suggestion!

(P.S, already tried a cache wipe... didn't do anything)

I have the same problem too! Weird i thought i was the only one with this haha.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S6 Camera Focus Struggle and Buzzing/Hissing noise

I've noticed that when I have my screen face down that it makes the weird noise when I open the camera but when the screen is face up it doesn't. I don't know if i should get a new one or wait and see what happens. Any tips or ideas

Its due to the new auto focuse on the s6 edge which is normal. Dont worry, your phone won't explode haha

Galaxy S6/S6 EDGE- When shaking my Galaxy S6, there is occasionally a slight small noise from within inside of device. Is my device faulty, what is the cause of the sound?

Same been happening to me for 6 months since motherboard replacement,. Not being able to focus and making a fizzing crackling noise. Checked my warranty and still covered (2 Years) so took to Samsung shop. they took away and said it needs a replacement camera. ALL COVERED IN WARRANTY NO CHARGE. GET IT CHECKED OUT

Same with me, though got the second hand phone through GAME I'm gonna send it to Samsung to see if they can repair it for free, if not, I'm gonna return it to GAME as I have a 12 month warranty
