Why does my Samsung galaxy tab3 8.0 not show charging icon when device is charging

I had a non functional charging port. I replaced same. when charging, sometimes it shows the lightning bolt that says unit is charging, sometimes, it doesn't show the lightning bolt but it is in fact charging
