Why does my Samsung S5 mini only work on 2g?

Samsung s 5 mini only works on 2g its got new sim and on o2 network in the uk. if I put my phone on 3/4g I cant send receive text or calls

Could it simply be that you have no 3g or 4g signal for O2 in your area?

Hi. Mine had had the same issue. Can only recieve calls if network is set to 2g only. If changed to auto or any others nothing works. Have tried a new sim and made no difference. Did you find a fix?

Coming from France I have the same problem , as long as my data is set on 4G, or 3G the phone does not work ( no phone call, no sms, no data, just the "emergency call only")
But works ok with 2G only , and that on EE, vodaphone, O2.

Seems to be a modem version problem , my firmware is G800FXXU1BPD1
