Why does my speakerphone turnoff randomly on my Samsung Note 4?

I am in the middle of a call and my speakerphone turns off by itself. Why?

Welcome to Android Central! Does the call drop, or does it just go to the phone's earpiece speaker? When this happens, do you notice a headphone icon appear in the status bar? One possibility is that there's an issue with the headphone jack where it's intermittently thinking a headset is plugged in, which might turn off speakerphone.

Thanks for the welcome! The call does not drop. It goes back to the speaker earpiece. I will have to watch for the headphone icon to appear in the status bar, but my guess is "no it doesn't appear." If it is the phone is thinking a headset is being plugged in, is it a hardware or software issue?

Could be either. A faulty headphone jack could do that, or even some metallic debris lodged in there.

The problem has been solved with a factory reset.

Problem reoccurred after two weeks. Got a new phone because my old one was on warranty.
