status bar frequently disappears and reappears [SG S4 i9505 - 5.0.1 lollipop]

Why does my status bar keep on disappearing and reappearing like there's a notification coming? It causes the phone to lag / freeze a bit. How can I fix this?

most likely an app gone bad. check the running apps list and kill/uninstall the ones you dont need

I don't know which app causes this problem.

wiping the cache partition doesn't work..

if you have updated to lolipop recently and have not done a factory reset then you should consider doing that... back up first

Do you have a screen protector on, or a case with a lip that might hang over the top of the screen a bit?

I do have a screen protector. But it extends over the top border of the screen.

I updated to Lollipop 5 months ago. I just noticed this recently.

I did a factory reset, yet the problem still persists. I think it has something to to with transferring apps to SD card.

I asked about the screen protector and case because it's possible something there is causing an unintentional touch. Does it still happen if the case is off? Can you take off the screen protector easily?

Problem's still there even without the case and screen protector. -_-

My phone has been doing this a lot lately as well. I've noticed my phone is freezing and lagging as well since this started. It also seems to be draining my battery. What can be done to fix this?

I've done everything; factory data reset, wiping cache partition, removing the battery / memory card / and sim. I can't seem to find out what's causing this.

How can I explain this, the status bar icons roll out like there's a notification, but there's none, and it rolls back in. For a second or two, it causes the phone to lag or freeze.

I think I know what you're describing, but I can't be sure what's causing it. I had suggested Safe Mode as a way of trying to exclude all 3rd party apps--I'm assuming that you tried Safe Mode, and it still happened?

do you have CM Security installed? I just turned off services under accessibility options in the phone settings, and my note 4 stopped doing this issue. noticed this happening after a recent update with CM Security and it solved my problem.
