Why does my tablet not detect any wifi networks

i have a kindle fire hdx tablet and when i try to turn on wifi, it continues to say turn on wifi but i did. Its a new a tablet and i already factory reset it but it does the same thing.

Welcome to Android Central! The "Wi-fi turning on" message just sticks there, and it never successfully connects? Have you tried the Mayday feature to talk to an agent directly? Since the tablet is new, I wouldn't waste much time--bring it back for an exchange or a refund.
