Why does my whatsapp call drop when my screenlock is automatically activated (S20 ultra)?

I have my screenlock automatically activated after 2 minutes. When I am in a whatsapp call on the loudspeaker, the call drops as soon as the screenlock turns on. In the phone settings my whatsapp is never sleeping and is allowed to run in the background.

I would suggest you to try turning off battery optimisation/allowing background process for WhatsApp, but looks like you already tried that. The only other thing that comes to mind might be WhatsApp's app lock feature or your phone's built-in app lock feature. If you have any of them activated for WhatsApp, try turning them off and see if that helps.
