Android Central Question

Tablet screen never turns off, no matter what timeout is set. Has to be turned off every time manually. Worked fine before, and no hardware or software change was made (Old tablet running Kitkat). Tried resetting to factory, same problem. Any ideas?

Welcome to Android Central! Is this only when the tablet is plugged in and charging?

You probably already know this, but a device running KitKat will lose more and more support for apps and Google services, so it's probably time to get a more current tablet anyway.

Problem persists despite all attempts, and happens whether it's charging or not.
Only explanation remaining is hardware fault, though no sign of it.
Thanks all.

Ok, was just wondering if it might be a Samsung tablet with the Smart Stay feature, which keeps the screen on as long as it can tell you're looking at it.

Have you noticed any phantom touches? If so, then is there a screen protector on? Screen protectors can sometimes cause phantom touches, which might make the device keep the screen on.

Also, if you have a case on, see if it still happens with the case off.
