Why does the brightness on my brand new Galaxy Note 3 increase brightness but won't decrease it?

Brand new Galaxy Note 3 auto brightness can increase brightness but won't decrease it!!

I just noticed that auto brightness on my Note 3 can increase brightness but won't decrease it when I go into a dark area unless I lock the screen amd wake it again.

Is that normal behaviour? It's my first android

and in case it's not normal, can anything be done about it?

Automatic brightness does not always work correctly. You can try third-party applications for this. example, Lux. Or completely disable this feature.

Thank you for the reply...I thought I had a defective device, but I downloaded Velis app and now it works fine
