Why does the google+photo appear when a contact calls me rather than the pic i selected?

For some reason when my fiancés calls & texts the Google+photo appears rather than the contact profile photo i selected. How do i fix this? I cant seem to login to his Google+right now so is there any other way to fix it? When i open it in phone contact app try to edit it wont allow it.
