Why does the Google search text entry box disappear from the home screen

The Google search text entry box (with the microphone) that normally goes at the top of my home screen disappeared and I don't know how to restore it.

Sorry, I forgor to say which phone I have. It's a Samsung SM-G930A, running Android 7.0

I've solved this issue. To restore the Google search onto my home page:
1) At an empty space on the home page press and hold.
2) When the screen changes, select Widgets.
3) Locate the Google widget (search bar).
4) Tap it to display the expanded items
5) Press and drag the search bar to the home screen.

I have the opposite problem: the darned thing just popped onto my home screen! I've had it off for years since we voice activated phones now. Moto Droid Turbo 2.....and without any updates that I see, it just popped on. And I can't remove it. Usual widgets you hold and delete. Not this time. Any ideas? Anyone else?
