Why does the screen dim when watching a movie?

The screen goes very low when watching a movie in the daytime, how can I correct this?

Have you tried deactivating the auto-brightness option for your screen? Or maybe the player you're using has a built-in brightness control that overrides the system one, and if that's set to low, all videos you play will be dark unless you change the level.

Happens to me when my left hand shades the light sensor for too long.

If the phone starts getting warm, it'll dim the screen regardless of your brightness settings. Even watching a movie can cause this depending on ambient temperature. It's one of the few things I take issue with on the G4. It's overly sensitive to heat when it comes to throttling, reducing brightness, quick charging, etc.
