Why does the sound crackle when I use the vidoe zoom on my Samsung J3 2017

Picture is great and sound was good when recording a live band even though the volume was pretty loud but that changed when I used the screen to zoom in. Sound quality changed with a loud crackling noise. Any idea's how to fix this other than not using the zoom.
