Why does Viber adds my Viber contacts automatically to my Lollipop Dialaer contacts???

Hi all! When I add a new contact to Viber, it is automatically added to my list of contacts in my phone dialer (I have Lollipop Dialer). I don't like that at all (!!!), particularly because some of my Viber contacts are overseas and I might accidentally (or by mistake) call them via phone which would cost me a lot.

How and where can I turn off this option???

Btw, the Sync Contacts option in my Viber is turned OFF but it still adds my newly entered contacts to my device's contacts.

Also, when I delete a contact from my Lollipop Dialer - then it is automatically deleted from my Viber???

P.S. I have Cyanogen OS 12.1 on Android 5.1.1

Hi, welcome to the forums! Which phone do you have? In some phones you can select which contacts to display after you open the overflow menu (three dots top right) on the contacts app main screen. I think the default option is "all".

There is an option in Viber which says Sync Contacts but it is checked OFF. Even though it is OFF when I add a contact to Viber the same contact shows in my regular phone contacts??? If I delete it from my regular phone contacts then that contact is not in Viber anymore!? Crazy.

In my phone contacts app (Lollipop Dialer) I don't see an option to sync with any other apps.

One thing I noticed is that when I add a new contact to Viber it will automatically be added to my phone contacts (Lollipop Dialer) but not as a regular contact but as my google account contact???

I've never used that phone so I'm not completely sure where the "contacts to display" option could be. I'll send a message to the moderators and see if they can move your thread to the Oneplus One forum where other owners could help you.

The three dots you are talking about are located at the bottom right on my phone and they offer me some settings but there is no option to select which contacts to display

Is that in the contacts app? Not the dialer. I think in the Oneplus One there's an option called customise or something like that. Not sure.

It's in the app which I use to make regular phone calls. When I add a contact to Viber I just want it to be in the Viber. I don't want it in my contacts list on my phone.

Unfortunately the same happens when you install other apps like LinkedIn for example.
The only solution for me was to uninstall the app....as it synchronized all of my linkedin contacts among the others in my contacts list...

Thanks for your reply. I believe there must be a solution to this. Also, isn't this an invasion to people's privacy? I mean, if every app can access my local phone list isn't that illegal? Crazy world!
