Why does Video app demand my browsing history?!?

I believe it's the Acer Video app, it just says "Video" version 2.4.3.0001. It may be called abVideo. I tried to play a video today and it insisted I update it first. Fine, but in order to update I have to allow it access to, among other things, my browsing history.

What?!? Why does it need my browsing history? I can't find any explanation for why it would need this. I also find this sort of thing extremely creepy and intrusive.

Welcome to Android Central! Remember that permissions can be pretty general. Just because the app wants access to your browsing history doesn't mean that it wants to track your browsing and sell the information. It may be that the Video app allows you to keep track of what streaming videos you recently viewed, and therefore needs that information from the browsing history.
