Android Central Question

I was told by app developers that the Android API does not allow them to record any internal sounds. You have to send sounds through the external mic via the speaker. This makes no sense to me. It would make much more sense to allow people the option to use the internal mic or not. As it stands, I can't record anything that I need earbuds in for. Anyone have a very good reason for neglecting this feature?

If android doesnt not allowed the internal record, then why ios and pc and others still allowed the internal sound record..thats very not fair and even worse, why it has to be rooted to get internal sound for android wtf is this what if our expensive phone broke for reason rooting own phone?will google be responsible?will android be responsible?will others be responsible?OFC HELL NO RIGHT!THATS ILLEGAL AND NOT FAIR FOR DISABLE THE INTERNAL RECORD!!FBI FBI COME IN AND KILL THIS ANDROID COMPANY

Devices are used in many different locations. Android is coded to support the most restrictive laws related to conversation recording. It's also a way to combat piracy of media (such as music playing in YouTube Music) by not being able to record said media using a 3rd-party app.

But I suppose Mr Gear Shift is just a drive-by trying to get people riled up again...

My Screen recorder is not able to record internal audio anymore. Only visuals of the screen are recorded and for the audio-only to external audio(Mic) is recorded, for internal audio, the screen recorder says that "internal audio recording is not allowed by Google now". And I can't find any option to re-enable internal audio recording. Earlier i used the same app to record screen with internal audio also. How can 'google now' disable a feature by itself without any prompt? Google is trying to forcefully take control of the phone, just because it runs on Android OS. And I don't see why all those in charge of replying seem to simply be in full support of this decision as if it was the right thing to do? It's a copyright issue, well, deal with it. They shouldn't be using our devices to make their job easier. As for me i can no longer record my gameplays anymore with sound as i have a channel. If they want to fix the copyright issue, tell em to set their own permissions for what needs to be protected from copyright. I shouldn't be prevented from using an in-built feature in my phone or be taken into account for recording my own videos the way I want to. If they don't give a solution, I may as well be forced to part with android. Apple is much better off without being restricted.

@cmdr Buff - "it's a copyright issue" refers to people recording copyrighted material during screen recording. Usually referring to audio played during a game. The game developer licensed the audio for its game, it wasn't licensed for individuals to distribute after the fact. It's not Google trying to protect its own copyrights, it's Google respecting the copyrights of others.

I shouldn't be prevented from using an in-built feature in my phone

It may have been built-in previously, it isn't anymore. It's not a native feature of the hardware, and it's no longer a native feature of the OS. Do I think it's right? I have no opinion as it wasn't a feature I made use of so I don't really care.
