Why doesn't my Nexus 7 (2nd Gen) turn on after latest Dec 2015 Android OS Update?

I updated my Nexus 7 (2nd generation) tablet operating software on Dec 18 2015. The screen went black and since then, I have been unable to turn it on. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, what is the remedy?
