Why doesn't my Note 5 get a signal when connected to a mobile network?

samsung galaxy note 5 does not get a signal when connected to a mobile network

I I have a samsung galaxy note 5. I have connected to a public network but still get no signal and cannot send messages.

Text is 2G - telephone network. It won't work on wifi if you have no phone service.

In general yes. But it depends on the app. Verizon messages can send texts over wifi.
