Note 5 no longer asks for decryption password on startup

I have a Note 5 that I turned encryption on. Until recently I would have to type in my password to decrypt the phone when it boots up. That stopped a month or 2 ago and I am not sure why. When I boot my phone up now it just goes to the lock screen and I can use my fingerprint to unlock or my backup password. It could of been the latest security update that Samsung pushed out but I wanted to know if anyone else is experiencing this. When I look in the settings it says that the phone is encrypted still. I am using a Verizon Note 5 on 5.1.1.

Have read this over at XDA as well. I wonder what is happening?

Update, found this thread on reddit and it solved it for me.

I had the same issue. I was able to get it to ask for password on boot up again by doing the following:
Change to only use a password (temporarily)
Reboot (It should now prompt for decryption)
Change back to fingerprint (if desired)
Reboot again (Once again it should prompt for decryption)
I have tried this with a restart and a full shutdown and restart and it worked in both instances. I still have no idea what caused this security breach and will remain wary of this. I strongly recommend rebooting your device every couple days to ensure it is secure.

I have this problem too. Did a factory data reset and it fixed it... For now
