Why doesn't my tablet use the microphone from my earphones for some apps?

The mic on my samsung tab a 2016 is muffled so I can't record videos with clear audio or send clear voice notes. So I bought a pair of samsung earphones to fix the audio problem and it worked for a while. Now all of a sudden when my earphones are in they use the devices mic even though I haven't touched the settings. Only on some apps though. On snapchat I can record videos with audio but the vn's don't work and on instagram the same. I used the memo and it said specifically "recording with earphone mic" but listening back it clearly isn't. I use this mic for ps4 party chats and everyone says I sound fine. However I used an online tester for my mic and it worked fine. I evn done a voice search on the google play store and it worked good. So it must be the device. I think its an audio problem as the video recorder picks up my voice through the earphone mic clearly. I can't find anything online similar to this. I'm using android 5.1.1.

Hi , welcome!

Your on old andriod version stuff are not going work properly even if they did before, have you tried rebooting the device?

Rebooting means turning it on and off again. Not resetting. A reset could wipe data but not a reboot.

No I can't, I've found out now though that it works perfectly fine until I try to record a voice message through snapchat. After that it just ruins it for every other app
