AC Question

why doesnt the adapter fast charging work with different cable?

I have the galaxy s6 and it came with the fast charging adapter and a cable, on a trip I lost the cable and now when I plug in any other cable with the fast charging adapter it take 6 hours to fully charge, is there anything I can do or do I just buy a new cable that is supposed to work with the fast charging adapter?

Re: why doesnt the adapter fast charging work with different cable?

The cable that came with your phone is not only a charging cable, but a data cable. Some USB cables are only charging cables with no data lines. It's possible the charger "somehow" communicates with your phone over the data lines so it knows it can use fast charging. Try a different USB cable that's capable of transmitting data.

I use a different cable with my adaptor. I honestly don't even know where my charger cable is lol. I use the adaptor and the charger cable for my internet modem device and it still fast charges

As nahoku said, there are two types of cables. The data cable is a higher quality cable and will also do the usb transfers to your pc. The pure charging cable is just that, just charging.

Make sure the cable is fully plugged into the fast charge adaptor. If it's not, it will still charge, but a lot slower.

The wire size of the cable used can also affect the maximum current draw from the charger. I use aftermarket cables of good quality and I am able to do fast charging.

I've been using a cheap 10ft insignia charge cable for quite a while now and haven't had any problems with fast charging. Doea your phone fast charge on factory supplied charge cable?

Make sure you have a good cable. Some cables limit current lower than 1A. Cable core should have 22AWG or 24AWG to support fast-charge though 2.4A or more. A Meenova cable supports fast-charge even on computer port.

A standard computer usb port can not do "FastCharge" fast charge uses higher voltages.
It charges with 9v and 12v instead of 5v
