no music in samsung app?

Does any body know an easy way to to get stored music on phone into the samsung player?
I use google music and usually listen to my music there but Im interested in streaming to my ROKU3 but seem to only be able to do this thru the Roku app & samsung music player. For some reason I am unable to get my music to show up in the stock samsung app ( and yes, I have downloaded music files onto the phone). Thanks in advance!

edit* After fruitless searching I ended up downloading "music mate" app which pulls music from Google music so you can use it on any player. Im sure there are other methods but this was found easiest. After testing the app trial it cost 3.99 and works flawlessly!! Currently streaming thru Roku from S6 :)

Re: no music in samsung app?

If you download music directly from the Google Play Music app to your phone, it's for offline use by the Play Music app only--you can't even manipulate the downloaded files with a file manager. In order to get your stock Music app to play music from your Google Play Music library, do the following:

1. On your computer, go to your Google Play Music library, find the music you want, click the 3-vertical-dot button next to it, and click Download.
2. Connect your phone to the computer via USB and use Windows Explorer to drag and drop the downloaded music to your phone's Music directory. For the sake of organization, use the conventional folder hierarchy of Artist>Album>Song (you'll probably have to create the Artist and Album folders).
3. Now open your stock Music app--the music should be there.
