Why don't I have Notifications when my phone is on standby?

No Notifications when phone is on standby

Hello,

I have a song experia Z3 with lollipop.

My phone will only vibrate on texts and whatsapp once i switch the phone on from standby. How can i fix it so it will vibrate when the phone screen is blank?

Welcome to Android Central! Are the texts coming as SMS, or are they from other messaging apps that use wi-fi? If you're using a service that uses wi-fi, go to Settings>Wi-fi, tap Menu>Advanced, and make sure Keep Wi-fi On During Sleep is set to Always.

If this is SMS, is the phone going to sleep with the SMS app still open to that conversation? If so, it may be that the messaging app isn't giving you a notification because it's open to that conversation, and therefore thinks you're looking directly at it. Of course, this doesn't make sense if the phone fell asleep, but that might be a bug.
