Galaxy S5 Lollipop. Phone is a month old. Wake up this morning, go to the stock music app, and all of my music has disappeared without a trace or an explanation.Tried a different app and still nothing.Pretty speechless and irritated at this point, I had a lot of music on there and hadn't backed any of it up yet. Any idea why this may have happened? Is this music recoverable?

Welcome to Android Central! Where was the music stored--Internal Storage or microSD card? If it's the latter, is the card still registering in the phone at all? Go to Settings>Storage to see.

It was stored via nternal storage

Have you used a file manager app to look directly in the directory to see if the music files are still there?

Did you find a fix for this? I have woke up with the same problem, I am using the S6 though.

Was all working fine yesterday but now music apps will only find the sample samsung song.

I have gone into device storage and can still see the music

Welcome to Android Central! For this situation, try going to the App Manager, select the Music app, and Clear Cache/Clear Data. When you open the Music app, wait a few seconds for it to rebuild the database, and see if the music shows up again. Be aware that clearing data might get rid of any playlists you set up.

Thanks for reply. Still nothing sadly. I was sent some audio through a text message yesterday and it has found that but none of my music

I'm having the same problem.

I can still see all the songs still sat there in "My Files", and can even play them one by one from there, but they don't appear in the Samsung Music app or the Google Play Music app. It's frustrating because they used to work fine but don't anymore!

I've already tried clearing the cache of the apps. I've even taken the files off the phone and put them back on.

The same 4 out of 22 albums pick up fine. I've since added a new, different album and that shows up fine.

I also have a strange error with my messages. All my text messages disappear until I reboot the phone. Any messages sent to me before I reboot never turn up.

Do you think I have a faulty phone? Is there anything else I can try before calling my operator?

Currently using Lollipop.

Join the club! This happens on my FIIO X3 and my Galaxy S5. I have tried: formatting in the device, using the USB mode, formatting in both PC and a MAC as FAT, exFAT. I've tried using a card reader and the same thing always happens. A limited amount of music is recognizable, but whole folders "copy", but then nothing is in them although the card registers the amount of data when going to properties. Very frustrating! I have scoured the net and not found a single solution. The other solution, get rid of the Android devices and switch to Apple, which is what I should have done. You can't imagine the hours I've spent on this just get take advantage of being able to use a card. Even though the Apple environment is very controlling, at least it works! I have a FIIO X3 for sale going cheap!

i had the same problem after installing the new os marshmallow it shows all my songs file info is 0kb and not playable everything gone

I've found that for S5 Neo if you delete a lot of the pictures and apps the music shows up again. That being said, it's apparently a temporary fix as it all disappeared mid song for a second time now.

At least the songs are still on the phone, I suppose... :/

I looked around the phone and apparently the phone is saying there isn't an SD card connected (there is, and it's where my music is). When I connect my phone to the computer the SD card isn't showing up.

I tried checking the memory space and I'm at 60% use, with 48% for RAM and 61% energy. I tried charging the phone to see if it changes anything, so we'll see.

OP i had the same problem and my god it's annoying. I have an LG Stylo 2. Love the phone but this morning i was listening to my library on the bus. After turning my phone off and then on all my music was gone in Google Play. Checked with the file directory. Internal Storage. Music folder said 0 files. I was so sadddd. Like i have a 15 Gb sd card and 2 gigs free on my internal storage! Why did the phone malfunction!?

Well when i was checking my storage i did see the files. Tell me how that one makes sense.. Definitely a relief to see them in there

These are good phones what a disappointing a day-ruining bug! If anyone finds a fix be sure to post it, or hope they provide a patch for it somehow...!

This happened to me too except it also disappeared off of my internal storage and my microSD (I had backups) in file manager. The weird thing is, only around 30 of my 110 songs vanished.... I've searched everywhere and I can't find them. My phome is an Samsung S7 running on Nougat.

It just happened to me too. I deleted Music app data, it worked for a while when I opened the app, but when I wanted to play a song it disappeared again.
I am using Huawei Y5II (Lollipop)

I WAS having the same issue. It happened at least twice last time being just now. I colmbed through thread after thread looking for an answer. Connected the phone to my laptop and navigated to my phone and then to my SD CARD. Everything gone from the SD card!

SOLVED: at least for me. Powered down the phone and removed the battery. I reseated the sd card, put the battery back in and booted the phone. BOOM! its all back! Hope this helps someone.
