Why has back up to Kies stalled on applications?

I'm backing up my Galaxy 111S using Kies. All other steps completed, but it's stuck on 37% of applications. Other than abort what can I do? How do I know what's causing the issue and fix it?

When I backed up my Galaxy S5, (since I have a lot of apps installed) the application time took about an hour, but it did complete. Do you have a lot of apps installed? And if so, are they large in file size?
