galaxy s4 porn in gallery

I have had my galaxy s4 for over a year now, and not had a problem like this before. I saved a photo sent to me by my significant other. When I went to my gallery there were a few albums of porn in it. I didn't look it up, or save it. I have no idea where the stuff came from. I panicked so I didn't see much. What I did notice was the album names of two of the albums. The first album was named James. The second, family. They had both porn and sexual comics as thumbnails. I deleted the folders, but I really want to know where they might have come from, and how to prevent it.

I'm not sure, but on my device I sometimes see thumbnails that I presume were created from browsing social media on the phone. I presume they came from my social media contacts--photos in a feed or avatars. I did not consciously download them, but thumbnails can show up. Sync settings for Facebook, etc may affect this.

I can't be sure, but that seems a possible scenario if you opened an album on social media based on a photo someone sent to you.

The photo was sent via text, and I don't ever go on any sites the have those things on my phone. But thank you for replying.

Hmmm. Well, there are tech issues and then there are social engineering issues. Are you 100% sure no one has access to your phone, EVER? A little brother who grabs it...whatever?

If you don't have a lockscreen passcode, this would be a good time to start using one.

It's also possible you got malware or a virus. Download a program like Lookout and run a scan.

I do have a lock screen, And I have my own apartment, so none is ever around my phone. But I think I should start scanning more often.
