Please help, my galaxy isn't functioning!!!!

My mom didn't have a phone to use, so my sister's boyfriend got a phone (Galaxy S4) from one of his friends and gave it to her. Well, apparently he didn't get the memo that phone needs to be at least accessible! The first time I tired to turn it on it only vibrated....so I assumed it needed more charge. I left it on the charger for 5-10 min-came back to retry and it vibrated, made the boot-up sound, and showed the led notification (on top left). I've tried holding the three buttons (power+home+ volume up). I've took the battery out and held the power button to drain battery as well....nothing. I even left it to charge for nearly an hour....still nothing. I also disassembled appropriately cleaned and rebuilt. and since then i haven't messed with it. Recently, now it only vibrates, nothing else. Please help I'm too poor to get another phone.

If the battery is nearly dead, an hour on the charger will give it about enough power to shut off, not much more., Leave it on the charger overnight.

Then, considering that the battery is in such bad shape, condition it. Once it's fully charged, don't charge it again until the phone says to. Fully charge it again with the phone off, use it until told to charge it - 3 full charge/discharge cycles in all.

After that try to not let the charge fall below 40%. (The ideal charging point, for maximum battery life, is 50%.) That's just the way lithium batteries work, there's no way to get long life and long time between charges (like always waiting until there's only 5% charge left before recharging).

If the phone needs new battery, a good quality battery is $12. http://www.amazon.com/T-Mobile-Cell...ag=hawk-future-20&ascsubtag=UUacUvbUpU4223873

Or get two batteries and a charger Amazon.com: Anker® 2 x 2600mAh Li-ion Batteries for Samsung Galaxy S4, S IV, I9505, M919 (T-Mobile), I545 (Verizon), I337 (AT&T),L720 (Sprint), not NFC capable with Anker® Travel Charger, and 18-Month Warranty: Cell Phones & Accessories for $20. That way, wen the battery in the phone gets down to 40%, if there's still more day left before it can be charged, just swap batteries. (The charger can charge the one in the phone and the one out of the phone at the same time.)
