Galaxy Tab stopped charging

I've had the Tab 4 for 6 months or so and this morning I couldn't charge it anymore.
The battery still has about 40% in it and booting up/restarting is possible, however:

- it won't power on when plugged in
- after a fresh start the battery status is 'not charging' but after plugging it in once it remains 'charging', even if it is unplugged, until restarted again
- regardless of battery status the icon in the status bar doesn't change (default not charging icon)
- usb data connection to a PC doesn't work
- everything else works as usual

I've tested several cables and two different chargers, including the original ones. I've also tried cleaning the port and slightly bending the middle plate to no avail.

model SM-T230 with Android 4.4.2, not rooted

any help is appreciated

Look like you'll have to get a replacement, or try factory data reset.

More funky stuff:
After being plugged in for a while it turns on by itself and later on starts charging (i only observed the turning on, the charging begins hours later i guess).
When it has started charging I can turn it off and it will continue charging until unplugged again. The battery doesn't drain faster than usual and I think the charging doesn't take longer.
Today it suddenly announced a connection to a dock, without being plugged in at all, after a restart, this disappeared after another restart.

I assume this is not exactly a battery problem, more likely something regarding the port, seems like I'll have to send it in.
