Why has my Nexus 7 screen frozen and is unresponsive?

Nexus 7 screen froze and is unresponsive

While scrolling through the Internet the screen froze except the on and off buttons which still work but don't do much to help because turning the Device on again only leads to the same frozen screen. There is no way to restart the device because nothing will show up the screen when I attempt to

Welcome to Android Central! Press and hold the Power button for about 15-20 seconds. This should force a complete power off. Wait a few seconds, then press the power button until it powers on again.

My unresponsive screen was fixed by pressing on the center of the back of the tablet. I heard a small pop and the screen was fixed. I think the connector had become dislodged.
