Android Central Question

Hi there

I have used Whatsapp migration software to move over chats and media from my old iPhone to S9, however my S9 has now indexed all the photos from the Whatsapp media folders (stored in the migration app), into my Photos app, with the result of there being literally hundreds of albums containing a few photos each. It makes it very difficult to scroll through albums to find the one I want because of the sheer volume of folders.

Is there a way to "un-index" these or move them somewhere else? I don't know how/where to find these folders in the file manager when I plug my phone into my laptop.

Thanks
Alex

Imo, Apple goes out of their way to make things difficult to switch to Android. Just think how many people are hooked to the apple ecosystem with paid for music and movies that hold users hostage. My recommendation is to dl everything from the iPhone onto a pc. From there, hook up the new Android phone and move everything where you want. Next time, Smart switch will do it automatically into your next Android. Good luck!

If you can find the folders you need to create a blank file called ".nomedia" in each folder as I recall.

You can look for the files in the Android folder, it might be under data or media.

Android doesn't actually "index" photos into albums. Each album is a folder in your file structure. There is no actual index other than what was created on making the transfer. If the transfer put the pictures into folders sorted according to whatever algorithm, then that is what will be shown. If you dump your photos into a single folder in the phone, then that will be what the album structure is.
