Why has my speaker begun to crackle (S4)?

Crackling s4 speaker

I have just received a new samsung s4 from my insurance as soon as it switched on the speaker started to crackle. Whenever there is supposed to be noise I just get crackling. Has anyone else had this and know how to stop it?

Since it's a new phone, as far as warranty is concerned, contact the insurance company and ask for an RMA (return merchandise authorization) and shipping label, so you can return it for a phone that works. (You shouldn't have to pay shipping to return this phone or for the one they send in its place, since they sent you defective merchandise.)
