Wifi stopped working on Galaxy note 10.1 2014

On Sunday 12 July my Note downloaded a software update to the operating system (Android 4.4.2). After installing the update my wifi immediately stopped working. It scans continually but does not even detect a wifi signal when placed next to any router. Has anyone else experienced this?

Have you tried forgetting the wi-fi network and re-adding it and/or rebooting your router?

Also, take a look at this helpful thread:

Any chance your date get reset to the default during the update. My wife's Note ran completely down to zero during our vacation. The date got reset to the default, 1/1/2012. Many things did not work. Not finding a wifi SSID being one of them. Even when I manually set the wifi SSID, it would not connect to the internet. When I was poring through the settings, I noticed the date was not correct. When I changed the date to the correct date, everything started working again.

The problem is that it can no longer detect a WiFi signal. I have two routers at home and 3 in the office. It can no longer detect a signal from any of them. It seems as if the detection system has been turned off internally. I have confirmed the system date etc is OK.

When you say cannot detect a wifi signal means your device cannot find the SSID of the router. Sometimes if you turn the device to airplane mode, wait a few seconds, then turn off the airplane mode will allow the device to see the router.

Snap. I have *exactly* this issue with my Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 LTE (SM-P605) running 4.4.2. Since installing the update it says it's scanning for wifi, and I can see the list of networks I've previously connected to, but none are shown as currently in range/available, even the ones that definitely are (I can see them on my phone). I can't see my neighbours' networks, I can't see my phone's mobile hotspot if I turn it on - nothing - the device appears to be incapable of seeing wifi networks any more. Driving me mad as I'm having to bluetooth tether through my phone.... slooow.
Interestingly, after a Factory Reset wifi very briefly started working again but then stopped again part way through the set-up wizard, just as I was logging into my Google account.
Don't know if it's relevant but I imported my device from Hong Kong.
Hope someone recognises this and has a fix.

Same issue here. So frustrated. It finds all local WiFi signals, but won't connect to any except my phone's mobile Hotspot. Help!

Took my Note to the Samsung repair Centre. Firstly they wanted to charge me to look at it because it was "out of warranty". When I pointed out this was not a warranty issue but a case of faulty software downloaded to my Note by Samasung I was told it was my fault for installing the update as it wasn't compulsory to do so! I am waiting for further feedback from them.

After almost 2 months the Samsung repair shop just have told me I must pay $520 for a new main board. This is after they downloaded faulty android software. Needless to say I will never by another Samsung product!!!

Out of curiosity I took out my Note 10.1 to see if the WiFi problem was still there. Remarkably it is now working OK.
I have done nothing to it! Perhaps it was date related and now that we are in 2016 the problem has resolved itself.....?

Download Samsung Kies and upgrade your tablet firmware through kies. The last update for Note 10.1 is Android 5.1. This update will resolve theproblem.

Same problem. After software update it stopped working. Took it to Samsung they told me I have to replace the motherboard. This is a load of bull****.

This issue was caused by the update. This is a Samsung defect and they should fix it for free!!!!!
