WHY have I still not gotten Google assistant?

I have a galaxy s7 and I'm reading threads on how to get assistant and apparently galaxy s7 and s7 edge users have alreaddy gotten the update. I updated my phone to nougat and I also checked Google now settings but there's no sign of assistant anywhere. I signed up for Google now beta and play services beta and still nothing

I'm in the states (California) and downloaded and installed 7.0. But I don't see the Google Assistant. How would I know if I had it. No icon stating that. Is it hidden?

Hold your home button. If you have it it will pop up as a replacement for now on tap

As stated above, he long pressed the home button.

It was not 100% clear as to how he had found it. For some people they already have it, but long pressing the home button still brings up Google Now until they enabled it in settings. Therefore, I was curious if he went back into settings, long pressed the home button or another way.

Yes, I live in AZ. I got it about 2 1/2 weeks ago.

Even though the OP is a new member, he did not reply to or like the above comment. So, one can only assume that is the way he found it. The OP might have been saying thanks for the reply(s) and that he had just found it. From my previous experiences I try not to assume anything.
