Why have some of my old pictures mixed with some of my most recent ones?

So around half an hour ago(?), while trying to send a picture over on Instagram, I noticed that some of my old photos (around 40+?) have been mixed in with my most recent ones. Pictures all from random times, such as some from 1-2 years ago to some earlier this year. Even ones I took on the same day aren't in their proper order. But, over on my gallery, everything is perfectly fine. This issue happens eveytime I try to send a picture, no matter the app from what I've seen. Does anyone know how to possibly fix this? Also a bit off topic but could this also have something to do with the most recent update, which got rid of the theme I was using for my keyboard?

Do you recall copying those photos any time recently, or otherwise editing them? Instagram and other apps often sort photos by when they were last edited, not by the date it was taken.

Have you checked how are they sorted? Check if the the sorting setting is using by date option or not.

Pretty sure they're sorted like that by default no? But just in case, how do I check how they're sorted?
