why is 3G to 4G switching lost with the ICS update?

After waiting all this time for ICS- one of the basic, most used features I do with my phone is gone- before I can simply go under settings and switch back and forth between 4g and 3g- to help conserve battery life, especially when I'm not in a 4G area.

I would think that a new software update, would add features and better the device, not limit features that people most commonly use?

In any case, I downloaded the "phone info" app, as per the suggestion, of some of the members on here-, and I was able to get into 3G, however no matter what setting I choose I cant get back to 4G?!?!

any help would be appreciated. :)
 
I use the LTE OnOff app and it seems to work well. I know under normal circumstances, 4G is reset with a reboot, so have you tried that?

As to why they took out that setting, I don't know. The conspiracist in me thinks it's so people burn through data quicker and need to add to their plans, making VZW more money. I doubt that's the real case, just my mind acting up on me. :p
 
Because Verizon probably wants everyone on their fast 4G LTE network at all possible times.

This is a Verizon issue, not an ICS issue.
