why is camera brightness low during video calls?

I recently bought a Galxy J2 prime, the camera quality on the phone camera is just fine but while video calls on whatsapp or messenger or taking pics on retrica the image is dark.

How much light is in the room you are creating the video in?
Normal house lighting is really dim.

Check the options in the apps. You just need to increase the ISO, or maybe reduce the frame rate of the video.
