Why is Google Reminders not working?

My S4 i257 is on its last leg. Ugh! Hate it!
I speak and write my reminders, and they are there on the Reminder Page. But Not alerting me- no sound at all. Settings are right but doesn't remind me. Anybody please tell me if this can be fixed.

I moved this to the S4 forum, since it's more specific than the Android 4.4 forum it was previously in.

Try going to the App Manager, select Google, and Clear Cache/Clear Data. Then open Google again and let it sync. Test another reminder--does it still not work?
