Why is Google Voice Typing not working?

My keyboard has a microphone but every time I try to do a voice text, e-mail, etc. I get a message saying Google Voice Typing cannot be activated in this context. Help! I used this feature on my old phone all the time.

Google Voice Typing cannot be activated in this context.

Keep getting the same message. Rebooting resolves it for a day or two and then return. Any help or ideas?

Nexus 6P, running 6.0.1 (March update), Nova Prime, only Swiftkey and Google Keyboard installed (get message using either keyboard).

Same issue here. This just started 3 weeks ago. Restart phone temporarily fixes issue and then it returns
