Why Is It So Hard To Get a Good Screen Protector?!

Update on the Power Support.

DO NOT BUY!

Still looks and feels great on the front. But I have the dreaded rainbow effect in the middle of the screen.

Not only does it look terrible it makes other parts of the screen less reactive to touch because it is so stuck in the middle.

It will be a waste of $40 but I'll be ripping it off. Calling Google to try and get a refund if I send back the glass alone.

Please. Do. Not. Buy. This.

My Whitestone Dome screen protector arrived today. I won't be able to apply it to my phone until tonight but I have high hopes for it. I hope it doesn't let me down.

That's a real shame, and after you did such a good job installing it too. Thanks for sharing and letting us know the end result.

Please let us know how the Whitestone Dome works out for you.

FWIW I got a curved glass screen protector from Verizon. They installed it so I don't know where/how much adhesive there is, but it seems to work ok: screen feel and touch are fine, no weird dot matrix patterns or halo effects, etc. It comes with an alignment tray so I assume that it was straightforward to get ready.

Only strangeness is there seem to be two vertical lines, very faint, near each edge. They don't obscure anything so they don't bother me but I do notice them from time to time.

I was going to attach pictures but Tapatalk has apparently changed WRT downscaling them to an acceptable size.

Everything was going fine but then... When it came to applying the screen protector I allowed the liquid to go down to far so it didn't apply to the whole protector as intended. It was my fault. I reached out to the company. I hope they can send a replacement to me soon. Before I took it off it felt nice. I'd be willing to give it another try.

I hope you get a replacement, and a chance to give it another go.

I still have no screen protector on my Pixel 2 XL. I loved my TG one on my LG G6 but I haven't gotten one since then... worried about the bad ones.

Guys anyone else tried the Whitestone Dome besides dcemureviews and Lilybell2?

@dcemureviews
Read on Whitestone website that if you're not careful when changing cases it can lift the screen. Have you experienced this?

@ Lilybell2
You said you messed up your application and were waiting to see if Whitestone would send a replacement. Aren't you able to try a second time to apply the screen protector if you mess up with the second tube of glue, or did you mess up the screen itself?

This reviewer Pixel 2 / Pixel 2 XL case & screen protector reviews: Protection for every scenario [Updated continuously] in his first attempt he had lots of bubbles. I thought with the design of the application tray it pretty much eliminated the likelihood of bubbles?

I'm so close on pulling the trigger on the Whitestone Dome but need assurance I won't run into unexpected issues applying it. I would think getting bubbles would be one of them since I didn't think you could just pull it back off immediately and slap it back on with the glue in the equation.

The reviewer also didn't get the covers for the speakers applied right... thought this was kind of full proof?

I've taken my caseology parallax on and off multiple times and no issues.

dcemureviews did you have success the first time you attempted applying the Whitestone? Did you have bubbles?

$50 is way too much for me to try installing something myself. One little mess up and you are out $50.

It comes with 2 tubes of local glue. If you mess up the first time, you still have a second chance. All you have to do is remove the old glue and clean the screen of the old glue

I think you've confused me with someone else. Although I am very interested in the Whitestone Dome screen protector, I have not yet ordered one and definitely have not installed one.

Can someone please confirm that the Spigen clear glass screen protector (the one that doesn't cover the whole screen) has some kind of oleophobic coating to avoid the smudges and fingerprints? Otherwise I'll stick with the ebay ones since they cost 1 or 2 bucks each, opposed to the 9 bucks for the Spigen.
Cheers
