Battery draining fast - a few hours

Hi:

My Samsung Galaxy S4 has started draining the battery very quickly - within 3-4 hours. I charge it overnight and am not using it much at all and it just drains. When I check the battery use, Sprint ID is the top line item. What is that? Can it be turned off?

This is not normal and in fact, I have had much better battery life even while using my phone more.

Re: Battery draining fast - a few hours

Hi, some app or program running in the background is likely the cause. Try holding your power button down for a few seconds until a window opens that says power off, and at the bottom it says restart, touch that, and wait while phone resets. It shuts down all apps, and then reboots. If thhat does not help, chech to make sure WiFi is off. Open the main apps button, looks like a cube with nine boxes, touch that, find the gear, touch that to open settings and I think the WiFi toggle should be near the top. This often will drain the battery because of constant searching for a open connection.

Re: Battery draining fast - a few hours

I have a couple apps that are set to STAY ON. These apps do not cut off automatically after 2 minutes. They will drain my battery and I can feel my phone is warm if these apps are left running. I make it a habit to hit the HOME button before turning my S4 off! This stops those apps and saves the battery!

Thanks to both oneeyecarpenter and extraclass. You were both right. A restart fixed it and my battery was running warm so it was definitely an app that was running rouge.

Phew. Bullet officially dodged.
