why is my battery draining so fast and hardly charging up

I have a Tab 3 (10.1") and have had it about a year. I've noticed recently that after charging my tab for 8-10 hours TURNED OFF it's only charged around 20% and if I try and charge it when it is turned on, not using it at all, it still drains battery. The charger is the official original one it came with and I am absolutely at my witts end with this.

First, try a different USB lead, and make sure that the USB port connector is clean and undamaged.

That indicates that you regularly discharge it to 10% or less, so a year is a long life for a lithium battery. If you want to keep them running, never discharge them past 40%. This one will probably have to be replaced.
