Why is my battery life draining so fast?

I have a droid maxx phone that within the past couple of months has started to drain almost instantly when the phone receaches 30%. Within the past week or so, I now have to panic if my phone is even at 60% battery. I usually do not charge my phone overnight as I have read that it can make your battery worse (oh the irony), but the last two nights my phone has been in the 60-64% range when I go to bed and then has died or been at 2% if I caught it. Once I plug the phone back when it is at the drained number, it jumps back up very quickly. Please give me any valuable advice I can because I would appreciate not having to keep my phone fully charged all the time. Thanks for your help!

Welcome to the forums. It might be the OS has an error for the battery stats, or the battery is starting to go bad. Have you tried a reset?
